Smart and Skilled

The Smart and Skilled Program is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, helping people in NSW gain the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

From 1 January 2015, eligible individuals will be able to choose government funded training based on the quality of the training that best meets their needs, because the cost of training will be the same for equivalent qualifications in all Registered Training Organisations.

Am I eligible?

An individual may be eligible for the Smart and Skilled Program if they are:

– An Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, and
– Aged 15 years or older,
– Not at school*, and
– Living or working in New South Wales, and
– No previous qualifications at Certificate IV or higher, unless you have an acquired disability

*Special conditions apply to the CSO Program for young people still at school.
