Our Lake Macquarie Trade Training Centre is officially open!

Last week, we celebrated an amazing milestone for skills training and vocational education in the Lake Macquarie region, with opening of the College's new trade training centre at our Gateshead Campus. Situated at the Business Growth Centre - a small business development hub designed to incubate and grow small enterprises - the new trade centre becomes the third training facility for the College and is important in addressing the skills shortage facing Australia.

Central Coast Community College General Manager, Debbie Laarkamp, commented that with the opening of the Trade Training Centre, more local job seekers in the Hunter and Lake Macquarie regions will have access to practical hands on training, increasing employability for local job seekers and small businesses.

Lake Macquarie City Council Mayor, Kay Fraser, joined us at the official opening ceremony in Gateshead, commenting - "Facilities like this are vital to address the skills shortage and train future generations of tradespeople."

A Certificate II Electrotechnology course is currently being delivered at the new trade facility, with students attending practical training 3 days per week. Other courses that will be offered at the Lake Macquarie Trade Training Centre include our Multi-Trade Workshops, Trade Taster courses, Engineering Mechanical, Electrotechnology, and Engineering Fabrication courses under a range of NSW Government funded programs, including Smart and Skilled and Adult & Community Education (ACE).
