PaTH Program

Connecting young people to training and employment.

HVTC and the Central Coast Community College are partnering with the Federal Government to create more employment pathways for young people across the Hunter Valley and Central Coast.

We have been selected to deliver the PaTH Industry Pilot Program across our local regions, providing additional support to help young people find real job opportunities in industries with a growing demand for skilled workers. Our focus areas are Business Services, Community Services, Engineering and Electrotechnology.

This program will be executed over three phases; prepare, trial, hire.

Prepare

Participants will complete 6-8 weeks of faceto-face training (75 hours total) in several locations across the Hunter Valley and Central Coast, with rolling commencements from April to November 2020. Training will be delivered by the Central Coast Community College and will include tailored short courses to help them develop essential employability skills and soft skills, such as self-esteem, resilience, honesty and integrity. Together, these skills will help participants transition into the workplace with confidence. They will also receive industry specific training and LLN support as required.

Trial

Following the completion of the training phase, participants will be placed with a pre-qualified local business for a work experience internship in their chosen industry area. During the internship, participants will be tasked with a range of structured workplace activities and will be required to keep a logbook of skills/experience gained. Their Field Officer will conduct regular site visits, provide mentoring and coaching and obtain feedback on performance during the internship to ensure any barriers to success are identified and addressed, with ongoing management programs in place as required

Hire

At the completion of the internship, selected participants may be offered permanent employment directly with their host, or the
opportunity to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship. HVTC will continue to provide mentoring and support to all participants,
including referrals to potential employers to assist their transition into employment.
