Give back to your community and provide support for older Australians to increase their digital skills!
As a Be Connected Network partner, the Central Coast Community College is offering free training for Digital Mentor volunteers.
Digital Mentors are key in supporting older members of the community to upgrade their digital skills. Our aim is to help learners feel confident when using technology, and support them to connect with others in a digital landscape. Remember, you don't have to be an IT expert!
Upon completing this course, you will have the opportunity to join our team of Digital Connect volunteers and spark your passion for digital coaching. There is no commitment for participation as a Digital Mentor after completing your training. However, if you're available to volunteer, we would love to have you in to support our Digital Connect learners.
As part of our Digital Mentor training program, you will cover the following:
- What is a Digital Mentor?
- Inspiring people to get online
- Overcoming barriers & challenges
- Foundation and essential digital skills
- Resources to help you
Upon completion of this course, you will be equipped to volunteer as a Digital Mentor with the College. This will involve:
- opportunity to support the delivery of our Digital Connect program
- invitation to attend social events
- option to undertake ongoing training and upskilling opportunities
All training and volunteer related costs will be covered by the College. Digital Mentors who are actively involved in the Digital Connect program post-training will received a Digital Connect polo shirt and fuel vouchers.
Training for this one-day workshop will be delivered face to face.

Digital Connect is funded through Be Connected, an Australia wide initiative empowering all Australians to thrive in a digital world. Be Connected provides online learning resources as well as a network of community partners. The Be Connected Network offers in-person support so you can develop your digital skills and confidence.
Our Digital Connect workshops are delivered twice per month at three Central Coast locations, and cover a range of topics to help students get the most out of their devices.
