The community care industry is an extremely rewarding area of work for individuals who are passionate about the rights and independence of others. The Statement of Attainment in Individual Support is a hands-on course that will give you the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to work and communicate effectively in the community care sectors.

The Statement of Attainment in Individual Support is delivered on the Central Coast and will give you the opportunity to gain the core competencies to work in the community care industry and establish your career path in either ageing or disability. Our team of specialists will be there every step of the way, and the combination of classroom and practical exercises means you can graduate with the skills needed to excel in your chosen career!

Who Is This Course For

This course is for students looking to start a career in the community care industry.

Learning Outcomes

This course is made up of the core units from CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, and you will learn:

  • Gain key competencies in the community care industry
  • Communicating and working in health community services
  • Provide individualised support
  • Follow safe work practices

Study Pathways

Students who enrol in this course may also choose from the following electives to specialise in one of these industry areas:

  • Disability
  • Ageing

Graduates may then also elect to continue their studies by enrolling in CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support or CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability.

Career Opportunities

Students wishing to undertake this course may consider the following work roles:

  • Community Care Worker

Delivery Mode

Face-to-face delivery, with 90 hours of practical placement in the workplace, and individual work at home.

Funding Eligibility

This course is being offered under the Adult and Community Education Community Services Obligation (CSO) Program. This funding has been designed to support people who experience barriers to training and employment. To determine your eligibility for the CSO Program click here.

Entry Requirements

Students must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), turned 16 or have relevant experience and/or qualifications that indicate likely success in completing the course.

Work Placement

Aged care facilities require a criminal record check prior to placement. Students can apply for this through NSW Police. If you are commencing work placement in a facility governed by NSW Health you will be required to also undergo an Occupational Assessment for Vaccinations and Infectious Diseases.

Please bring a pen, paper and folder to class. All other course resources will be provided for you on the day. Please remember to bring your lunch.
