Are you currently interested in working in the beauty industry but don’t have any skills? Then look no further than our Skills in Salon Assisting! This course will provide you with the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to professionally work as part of a team in a salon environment.

The Skills in Salon Assisting course is delivered in our on-site beauty salon at Central Coast Community College and will give you the opportunity to perform tasks such as communicating and providing services to clients, answering telephones and making appointments, using and managing money, preparing yourself as a professional by learning how to apply makeup and performing manicuring and pedicuring tasks. A combination of classroom and practical exercises means you can graduate with the skills needed to excel in your chosen career!

Who Is This Course For

This course is for students looking to begin their career in the beauty industry or for current industry workers to gain additional knowledge and skills.

Learning Outcomes

This course is made up of the elective units from SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services, and you will learn:

  • Providing services to clients
  • Conducting financial transactions
  • Designing a make-up plan
  • Salon cleaning and infection control
  • Manicures and pedicures

Study Pathways

Students who choose to enrol in the Skills in Salon Assisting may be eligible to apply for the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services.

Delivery Mode

Face-to-face delivery with mandatory practical placement (completed on-site in our operational Student Salon).

What to Bring To Class

Please bring a pen, paper and folder to class. Students are required to wear the appropriate attire for this course, including a black blouse, black pants and enclosed shoes. All other course resources will be provided for you.

Please Note that “CSO201824 Perform salon duties and maintain a clean salon” is a Non-Accredited Module and only a statement of attendance will be provided for this module.
