About The Trainer

Ciao! My name is Antonietta Canu and I look forward to teaching you Italian. I was born in Australia with both my parents being of Sardinian heritage. In 1927 my father migrated to Australia on the 'Il Re D’Italia' and my mother followed seven years later. Growing up, my brothers, sisters and I absorbed both Italian and Sardinian as our first languages. Once we commenced primary school we were introduced to the English language, this being something many migrant children experienced. In learning English we were able to encourage our parent’s improvement in the language also. I now have an Advanced Diploma in Arts from UNE, majoring in the Italian language. I also speak Greek, a language I practice regularly with my two grown children, relatives and friends. I moved to the Central Coast in 2001, I love the pristine area and thoroughly enjoy teaching. Italian language is my passion and I love being able to follow my interests and pass on my knowledge. Saluti!
