Course Information

This course is an interactive workshop where you will learn the basics about setting up a WordPress website for your small business. We will teach you how to add your business branding assets (logo, colours, and fonts) as well as walk you through the process of creating pages, adding images, and uploading content for your new site. The best part? At the end of the day, you get to keep your brand-new website!

This course is open to all levels of experience, but participants must have intermediate computer literacy.

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Write copy for your website that appeals to your target audience.
  • Put together an e-marketing campaign with confidence.

  • Plus, we'll teach you the fundamentals of business writing, so you can confidently write anything from emails to reports and more!

In the workshop you will learn how to:

  • Create a logo, branding style guide and social media images;
  • Use Canva templates and create your own custom designs;
  • Save time + money by designing your own marketing collateral;
  • Learn the basics of good design and how it can help your business.

Ready to set-up your own website? This workshop will show you the basics to get started with building a WordPress website for your business! You must be computer savvy and have experience with Internet browsers to join in.

Do you have a WordPress website? This workshop will show you how Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) can help your website to rank higher in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs), organically without paying for advertising. You will install and configure the Yost plugin for SEO.

Creating great graphics for social media is an essential part of an online marketing strategy. In this workshop, we will teach you everything you need to know to design stunning images that are simple and effective. You'll learn about the tools and techniques to design images using Canva. By the end, you'll be equipped with the skills necessary to create beautiful graphics for your Facebook, Instagram, and other digital campaigns.

The Targeted Skills for Small Business program is a NSW Government initiative, established to deliver training for small business owners and employees of small businesses who want to better understand how to use the latest technology and gain up-to-date knowledge to improve their business operations.

These courses are subsidised by the NSW Government for eligible participants. You may be eligible for fully subsidised training under the Targeted Skills for Small Business program if you are:

  • 15 years old or over
  • no longer at school
  • living or working in NSW (or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in specific NSW border areas); and
  • an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or humanitarian visa holder (or a partner visa holder whose sponsor is a humanitarian visa holder)

To be eligible for subsided training under this Program you must:

  • be an owner or employee of a small business with less than 20 employees; or
  • turn over less than $2 million annually

Each workshop will be delivered face to face by an industry expert trainer.

Please bring your own laptop. A limited number of loan laptops will be available. If you require one of these please call the College and let us know when you enrol. Wireless internet access will be available.

Bring a USB if you would like a copy your course files and pen and notepad if you would like to take notes. All other course resources will be provided for you.

I have a wealth of experience with diverse backgrounds in marketing, graphic and website design, and event management.  I bring thoughtful insight, flexibility and attention to detail to every project I take on.
