Tech Savvy Seniors - Online Skills

It’s never too late to brush up on your online skills or learn new ways to stay connected with your loved ones. In partnership with the NSW government and Telstra, we are excited to offer the FREE Tech Savvy Seniors program to older Australians on the NSW Central Coast.

This training is funded by the NSW Government. Eligibility criteria applies.

Introduction to the Internet

As part of this workshop, participants will learn the following:

  • How to connect to the internet
  • Understanding NBN, Wi-Fi, data and costs
  • Using a browser
  • Searching the web
  • The basics of shopping and banking
  • Staying safe online

Introduction to Online Shopping

As part of this workshop, participants will learn the following:

  • The basics of online shopping
  • How to find and use online stores
  • How to make secure payments online
  • The basics of online banking
  • How to avoid scams

Introduction to Social Media

As part of this workshop, participants will learn the following:

  • Create a Facebook profile
  • Invite and manage friends on Facebook
  • Share photos and other posts
  • Communicate using messenger
  • Manage you privacy and security

Introduction to Video Calling

As part of this workshop, participants will learn the following:

  • Use video calling in different aspects of your life
  • Make video calls to one or more people
  • Join and leave video calls
  • Control audio and video during a video call
  • Set up a video call to look and sound good
  • Practice perfect video calling etiquette
  • Protect your privacy
  • Must be an Australian citizen/permanent resident
  • Students must be over the age of 60 years to enrol.
  • Student's who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander may enrol if they are 50 years and older.

Training for this course will be delivered face to face at Pine Needles Village - 61 Karalta Road, Erina NSW 2250.

Participants are required to bring a mobile device, such as a laptop, smartphone, tablet, or iPad and its charger. Wireless internet access will be provided.

Information regarding course dates will be communicated to participants who waitlist once a course is scheduled.

Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and is funded through a partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra.

Classes are FREE for participants aged 60 years and over across NSW.
