
Barista Training
Want to learn how to make delicious coffee and expand your skills in the hospitality industry? This accredited course allows students who experience barriers to training to obtain their barista ticket and learn professional techniques to make you cafe-work ready!
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government. Eligibility criteria applies.
As part of this course, students will achieve the following learning outcomes:
- Overview of coffee history
- Blends and single origin
- Coffee extraction
- Coffee dosage
- Stretching milk
- Adjusting grind
- Common coffees found in Australian cafes
- Clean and maintain the coffee machine
- Basic coffee art
- Food hygiene practices
Students will complete the following units of competency:
- SITHFAB005 - Prepare and serve espresso coffee
- SITXFSA001 - Use hygienic practices for food safety
Students must have successfully completed year 10 (or equivalent), turned 16 or have relevant experience and/or qualifications that indicate likely success in completing the course.

This training is subsidised for eligible students by the NSW Government under the ACE program. Eligibility criteria has been expanded until June 2023, allowing more people to access training opportunities with the College!

Training for this course will be delivered face to face at our Ourimbah campus.
Students are required to bring a pen, paper, and folder to the course, as well as wearing appropriate attire including enclosed non-slip shoes, long pants, t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, and an apron. All other course resources will be provided.
